Pharmacy Personal Statement Toolkit

Plan, write and refine your answers to the three UCAS questions — in your own words, with your own experiences.

Writing Guide

UCAS uses three questions for 2026 entry onwards. You have 4,000 characters in total, including spaces, with at least 350 characters per answer.

1. Why do you want to study this course or subject?

Explain your motivation for studying pharmacy and your understanding of pharmacists’ roles. Reflect on medicines, patient care, relevant wider reading and career aspirations.

2. How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?

Reflect on relevant science subjects, laboratory skills, problem solving and academic projects. Connect analytical and communication skills to your preparation for pharmacy.

3. What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?

Reflect on pharmacy work experience, healthcare volunteering, part-time employment or caring responsibilities. Explain what teamwork, leadership and empathy taught you and why it matters for pharmacy.

Use examples to reflect, not to copy. Never invent an experience. Your answers are not submitted to UCAS by Pharmaspire.
